In response to UN resolutions, this report highlights the alarming growth of municipal solid waste, projected to rise from 2.1 billion tonnes in 2023 to 3.8 billion tonnes by 2050. It emphasizes the economic implications of waste management, estimating costs could soar to $640.3 billion annually without urgent action. The report advocates for a circular economy approach, suggesting that effective waste management could yield a net gain of $108.5 billion per year. It calls for immediate action from governments, businesses, and citizens to transform waste into valuable resources and mitigate environmental impacts.
